Convening philanthropic-innovation funders to support best practices in the field
This project will facilitate a convening of representatives of innovation units at up to a dozen foundations. The goal of the project is to build a better understanding within the philanthropic community about foundations' unique role in supporting innovation and what it takes for philanthropy to succeed in this endeavor. In addition to staff from innovation units at different foundations, the meeting will include experts from related spaces to help explore the leading edge of practice in supporting innovation. Following the convening, the project will produce a report and journal article, designed to broadcast the lessons learned from the meeting to members of the innovation and philanthropic communities. Together, these pieces can provide an introduction to the field for funders interested in entering the space, as well as a more detailed set of findings and practices for funders that are trying to deepen and improve their existing programs.
