This grant supports PolicyLink's Promise Neighborhoods Institute (PNI), a technical assistance hub for grantees of the federal Promise Neighborhoods initiative, which was established under the legislative authority of the Fund for the Improvement of Education and supports innovations in poor neighborhoods to maximize children's opportunities for success. In addition to direct assistance to Promise Neighborhoods' grantees, PNI will serve as a resource for grant runners-up (organizations that did not receive funding but are eligible to reapply with a strengthened proposal) and for organizations not associated with the initiative but engaged in similar efforts. Deliverables for PNI will include technical assistance to grantees, continuation of a web-based community of practice, and various communications and media products to inform the Department of Education and the public of Promise Neighborhoods' activities and successes. PolicyLink will not use Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funds for lobbying.
