This project will refine, communicate and demonstrate an architecture for Open mHealth to ensure its impact and sustainability. Scientists in the fields of computer science and medical informatics established Open mHealth to provide a focus from which the field of mobile health could move from a siloed to an open ecosystem by building an open architecture and the developer and learning communities around it. This requires development and clear communication of the architecture, the ability to demonstrate to multiple constituencies its value, and a mechanism for sustainability. Deliverables will include: (1) software development of Open mHealth architecture and pilot implementations demonstrating the architecture; (2) demonstrated engagement of an active user and contributor community of developers and health innovators; and (3) development of a sustainable business model.
