Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholars in Health Policy Research

The Foundation's Scholars in Health Policy Research Program was designed to provide postdoctoral training targeted to the most promising graduates of programs in the three disciplines of economics, political science, and sociology to advance their involvement in health policy research.The Robert Wood Johnson Investigators in Health Policy Program is intended to attract mid and senior level researchers to produce major works from senior and new investigators that would add significantly to the health policy field's knowledge base health policy questions. In 2011, the Foundation re-competed the National Program Offices (NPOs) for the Investigators in Health Policy Research Program (IHP) located at Rutgers University and Scholars in Health Policy Research Program (HPR) located at Boston University. As a result of the re-competition, Boston University was selected to manage both programs jointly. Although the IHP authorization will remain active, it will only be used to fund sites. This technical assistance and direction grant supports both programs and will include funding for annual meetings, grantee selection, maintaining the alumni database, monitoring and assisting HPR sites and IHP grantees, providing technical assistance training events, and establishing mentoring and organizational ties between the two programs. IHP currently has 40 sites. HPR has three active sites that fund nine scholars per year.
