Providing technical expertise to selected states on expansion of coverage under health reform, 2012-2013

Under this grant, the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) will provide technical assistance to Medicaid agencies as part of the State Health Reform Assistance Network (State Network). The goal is to help Medicaid agencies preserve coverage today and to prepare for the Medicaid expansion in 2014. Specifically, CHCS will assist with: (1) defining states' expansion population; (2) designing the benefits for the expansion populations and aligning those benefits with existing benefits; and (3) purchasing and contracting for Medicaid expansions and qualified health plans. Deliverables will include monthly calls and written reports to the State Network's national program office on the technical assistance that CHCS is providing to the 10 State Network states, individual and group calls with the states, site visits, one topic-specific convening, webinars, and memos to the states.
