The Foundation's Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program was designed to provide four-year postdoctoral research awards offered to historically disadvantaged physicians who are committed to developing careers in academic medicine, to improving the health of underserved populations, and to furthering the understanding and elimination of health disparities.Under this program, four-year postdoctoral research awards are offered to historically disadvantaged physicians and dentists who are committed to developing careers in academic medicine and dentistry and to serving as role models for students and faculty of similar background. This grant supports technical assistance and direction for the program and will facilitate the selection of suitable candidates for the program, assist them during the course of their awards, provide awardees with career development opportunities, and maintain contact with alumni of the program. It is anticipated that up to nine new scholars will be awarded under this grant, one of whom will be in the area of dentistry.
