The Foundation's program, Communities Creating Healthy Environments: Improving Access to Healthy Foods and Safe Places to Play in Communities of Color, was designed to build state and national momentum to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity through strategic investment in those communities most affected. The fifth year activities for the Communities Creating Healthy Environments (CCHE) national program office will focus on four primary goals: (1) develop and implement technical assistance, monitoring and capacity building plans for grantee sites; ( 2) improve field practice in ways that increase policy advocacy around specific policy targets through expanded web resources, training and technical support resources for "non-grantees"; (3) convene a learning community of national social justice organizations working in affected communities on the impact of sugar sweetened beverages and targeted marketing in communities of color as a foundation for strategy development and advocacy; and (4) implement an evaluative and documentation framework that supports initiative goals. No RWJF funds will be used for lobbying and CCHE grantees will participate in advocacy vs. lobbying training.
