Supporting construction of the Bateman Center at Raritan Valley Community College to enhance collaborative learning and leadership projects
Although the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation became a national philanthropy in 1972 and has operated on a national scale since then, it also has continued funding a limited number of local institutions and projects in the New Brunswick area and throughout New Jersey. It does so in part to honor the legacy of its founder, and in part to recognize the special responsibilities to the communities and the state in which it is located. This grant will help construct the Ray Bateman Center for Student Life and Leadership (Center) at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg, N.J. To be completed in 2013, the Center will bring students and faculty, from different health and social sciences, together to support interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. The Center will also provide flexible office space for the Student Nurses Association; Student Government Association; and RVCC honor societies, student clubs, and student-support services.
