The Foundation's program, Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities: Supporting Community Action to Prevent Childhood Obesity, was designed to catalyze and support policy and environmental change projects to promote children's physical activity and healthy eating, especially in lower-income and racial/ethnic communities at greatest risk.This grant supports continued technical assistance and direction for the Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities (HKHC) program. During the fifth year of this program, the National Program Office (NPO) will focus its efforts and attention on the following areas: technical assistance to HKHC grantees; field building; and planning for the future. Year 5 includes a special focus on sustainability in the technical assistance and consultation activities that the NPO delivers to grantees and in their work as a national program. Emphasis will be on diversifying their funding base to support this work in the future and to help take it to scale.
