Supporting a Virginia Health Reform Initiative staff position to facilitate Affordable Care Act implementation
This grant will be used to hire a senior staffer/associate director of the Virginia Health Reform Initiative (VHRI) in the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Resources. This individual will assist the VHRI director and the State Health Reform Assistance Network (State Network) project director in coordinating planning activities for a health insurance exchange to inform recommendations to the Virginia General Assembly, and to execute other Virginia health reform efforts. This work will include substantial internal and external stakeholder engagement and outreach, as well as coordination with the governor's office. Remaining funds will be allocated toward a 5 percent pay increase for the State Network project director and for health reform-related travel to state and national meetings and conferences.
