This project will educate National Education Association (NEA) members about competitive foods so they are prepared to champion healthy-food policies in their local schools and monitor federal and state policies related to competitive foods. The project will target four to six states during the period of the grant. States will be selected based on an environmental scan of the current competitive-foods landscape. Project deliverables will include two published resources for NEA leadership and another for members; the environmental scan to inform selection of the states with the greatest opportunity for policy change on this issue; and ongoing reports on the progress being made in the selected states. NEA will not use Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funds for lobbying.
