Elizabethport Presbyterian Center: NJHI -- Enhancing community agency's capacity

The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas. The purpose of this project is to strengthen the Elizabethport Presbyterian Center's (EPC) organizational capacity by first re-confirming and prioritizing their capacity needs through a comprehensive organizational assessment, and then supporting the development and implementation of a strategy to strengthen their organizational operations, Deliverables include completion of the organizational assessment, development and implementation of a capacity enhancement strategy, and reports documenting progress toward the strategy's implementation. Prior to strategy implementation, a revised work plan and budget revision will be submitted for the second phase of funding. Physically isolated from the rest of Elizabeth, the 50-year old Elizabethport Presbyterian Center is the only social service provider in Elizabethport. With a $2.1 million annual operating budget, EPC provides childcare, youth programs and senior services, primarily out of their new 30,000 square foot family success center. With a new executive director and new board chair, EPC has the leadership, history and community backing (demonstrated by senior staff, board members and other local community-based organizations), to continue as an Elizabethport community anchor institution.
