This grant provides support for the Please Touch Museum's Play Without Boundaries program in building on current efforts to expand the capacity to serve special-needs children. Under this project, Play Without Boundaries will develop plans for exhibits tailored to special-needs families, supply current exhibits with props that are more appropriate for special-needs audiences, instruct museum personnel in how best to serve special-needs children, and provide Web and print resources to families preparing to bring special-needs children to the museum. Believing that play is an invaluable tool in providing therapy to children with disabilities, and seeking to expand its services for such children, the Play Without Boundaries program will help the Philadelphia museum reach its goal of ensuring that all children have equal access to engaging, interactive learning experiences. Please Touch will use a portion of the grant to evaluate how effectively the new programming is connecting with the intended audience.
