Supporting general operations of the Communications Network and enhancing activities in the philanthropic sector

This grant provides support for general operations of the Communications Network (the Network) as it works to strengthen its position as a resource and leader in advancing the strategic practice of communications in philanthropy. In recent years, foundations have recognized the value of using strategic communications as a tool for advancing their missions and extending the impact of their grant making. As a result, communications efforts have grown and so has the need for communications practitioners in philanthropy to have timely access to knowledge, expertise, practical advice and guidance to improve their work. Planned and ongoing activities of the Network will include: (1) maintaining and enhancing its interactive website; (2) producing and delivering online learning programs for members; (3) researching and producing publications designed to inform and educate communicators at foundations; (4) producing video presentations that address core issues in communications work; (5) participating in social media activities to engage members; (6) holding annual conferences so that members can meet face to face to exchange information and ideas; (7) increasing the number of strategic partnerships; and (8) completing a strategic review and plan for the Network.
