The Foundation's Active Living Research program was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess structural, environmental, and policy changes with the potential to increase population levels of physical activity. The purpose of this project is to test intended and unintended consequences of changes in state liability legislation for community recreational use of public school property on local public school policy and school administrators' perceptions of liability risk in Minnesota. The study will provide an intervention via training module and toolkit and pre- and post-intervention survey to a sample of Minnesota school administrators. Deliverables will include article publications, online website reports for school administrators, training materials, and various presentations to disseminate research findings. All policy-related communications will be created in collaboration with the Foundation's communications staff and consultants. No Foundation funds will be used for lobbying purposes.
