Supporting a one-day meeting to explore the issues of quality and value in health insurance exchanges

This grant provides support for a meeting to gather information on the quality and value purchasing elements of the proposed health insurance exchanges (Exchanges). To inform pending rule making, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) requested additional input from consumer and employer stakeholders, as well as from quality measurement experts. The meeting will also build upon and explore in more depth the issues raised in a stakeholder input meeting sponsored by the Brookings Institution on July 26, 2011. This CCIIO meeting--on October 10 in San Francisco--will include consumer, employer and health plan representatives, as well as state authorities and quality-measurement experts. Deliverables will include the meeting agenda, an invitation to Foundation staff to attend the meeting, the meeting itself, and a written summary of the input and comments from the meeting for CCIIO and the Foundation.
