The purpose of this project is to enhance community change initiatives in ways that support young children's healthy social, emotional and cognitive development by focusing specifically on building the skills and capacities of child care providers in early education and care (EEC) settings. The grantee will develop a scalable, portable set of evidence-based strategies to promote EEC providers' positive interactions with children. Although this project focuses primarily on EEC providers, the grantee will generate useful information for target adults across settings, including parents in homes. Project deliverables will include three to five case studies describing a range of community efforts to promote healthy child development; an innovative intervention focused on adult capacity building; and a final report on lessons learned.
