This grant supports the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) in convening meetings and public forums--co-chaired by former U.S. Secretaries of Agriculture Dan Glickman and Ann Veneman and former Secretaries of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt and Donna Shalala--that will culminate in the release of a report outlining 10 to 15 specific, practical recommendations to improve nutrition and physical activity for the nation. In addition, BPC will develop white papers, summaries and updates outlining the discussions from the meetings with key stakeholders, including lawmakers, foundations and businesses. All of these activities will inform the BPC's Nutrition and Physical Activity Initiative. BPC will work closely with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to design the meetings and forums to ensure that they build on the most current research. BPC will coordinate with the Foundation on the timing of and the communications and dissemination strategies for the final report.
