Reducing the number of non-emergency visits to emergency departments in Albuquerque/Bernalillo County, N.M.

This grant is one of five communications minigrants to educate patients or other stakeholders in Aligning Forces for Quality communities about a specific aspect of quality care, with the ultimate goal of devising models that other communities can replicate. With this grant, the Aligning Forces alliance in Albuquerque will launch a paid- and earned-media campaign to encourage patients to see primary care providers for routine ailments--"the right care at the right place"--rather than going to the emergency room. The alliance will gather data from local hospitals to see if the campaign is indeed reducing non-emergency visits to emergency rooms.
