Promoting screening for colon cancer in Humboldt County, Calif.

This grant is one of five communications minigrants to educate patients or other stakeholders in Aligning Forces for Quality communities about a specific aspect of quality care, with the ultimate goal of devising models that other communities can replicate. With this grant, the Aligning Forces alliance in Humboldt County, California, will conduct an awareness campaign to encourage patients ages 50 to 75 to get colon-cancer screenings. The alliance will hire outside consultants to conduct focus groups with these targeted patients to determine, and then implement, the best outreach strategy.
