With this grant, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) will continue to support the PBS NewsHour's Health and Health Policy Unit to maintain in-depth news coverage -- on air and online -- of important health and health care issues. In doing so, the Foundation will be able to reach a valuable and influential audience of policy makers and policy influencers with credible, objective information on issues it cares deeply about. Deliverables will include the creation and airing of a minimum of 18 in-depth documentary-style broadcast reports annually; a number of short-form reports to set up in-studio debates; in-studio discussions and interviews with a variety of experts and newsmakers; and vigorous and active digital reporting and discussion on the new health section of the NewsHour website and on social media sites. Topics likely to be covered include Accountable Care Organizations, comparative effectiveness, payment reform, health disparities, nursing, controlling hospital infections, experiments in health care delivery, health policy and politics, and health reform implementation activity in both Washington, D.C., and the states. RWJF.org will have the right to link to any relevant content on the NewsHour's website.
