Examining the economic impact and return on investment of health promotion and disease prevention

This project will examine existing research to generate an understanding of the evidence base for the economic impact and return on investment of non-clinical efforts in health promotion and disease prevention. Altarum will synthesize information from a literature scan and interviews with key stakeholders to identify key issues, challenges and gaps involved in assessing the impacts of this work. Altarum will develop: (1) a white paper that will synthesize findings from the scan and interviews, and (2) a final report that will highlight gaps in the research, future research needs, experts in the field of research, top priorities for research, a suggested strategic direction, and next steps in creating an initiative related to this work. Altarum and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will work together to decide what parts of the report, if any, will be made public.
