Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Maximizing Enrollment program

The Foundation's initiative, Maximizing Enrollment for Kids: Making Medicaid and SCHIP Work, was designed to increase health insurance coverage of eligible but uninsured children in Medicaid and SCHIP by helping states improve their policies and procedures and to measure the impact of these changes.The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) will continue serving as the National Program Office (NPO) for Maximizing Enrollment for Kids program. In Year Four, NASHP will help the eight selected grantee states transform their eligibility, enrollment and retention systems to prepare for implementation of national health care reform by providing technical assistance and peer learning opportunities. NASHP will continue to collaborate with RWJF and key stakeholders, including federal and state policy makers, researchers, and advocates, to advance the work of the program. NASHP also will continue work with the Foundation to implement a communications strategy that targets these stakeholders to transfer knowledge about lessons learned and the successes of the program. NASHP will retain a strong focus on the initial goals of the program to identify, enroll and retain as many eligible children as possible in the targeted states, while helping these and other states to be ready with eligibility and enrollment systems that will meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and enroll new as well as current eligibles in Medicaid and SCHIP, and in subsidized coverage through Exchanges. Working closely with the State Health Reform Assistance Network project, NASHP will coordinate technical assistance resources and activities.
