Conducting a survey of high-functioning nursing homes to inform RWJF's evaluation of the Green House initiative

This grant supports a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation evaluation of the Green House Project, which has two broad goals: (1) to provide policy makers in the states and federal agencies with evidence of the impact of the Green House model on cost and quality, compared with other culture-change models of care and comparable traditional homes; and (2) to provide long-term-care organizations, investors and funders with information needed to improve the Green House and other models of care, with the ultimate goal of increasing their adoption. This survey, which will include approximately 450 nursing homes, is the first step in a larger research collaboration that will design and implement an evaluation of the Green House Project. The Green House model is a validated model for person-centered care in a skilled nursing facility. Deliverables will be a white paper summarizing the findings for the Green House Project's national program office; journal articles; and a public-use dataset for inclusion in the Foundation's Health and Medical Care Archive.
