This grant supports a research project to monitor and analyze how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) impacts states, including health systems, employers and individuals within states. With ACA's enactment in March 2010, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) adopted a new strategic objective for its coverage work: to ensure that 95 percent of all Americans have stable and affordable health insurance coverage by 2020. To realize this objective, the team has constructed an initiative, the State Health Reform Assistance Network (SHRAN), to aid 10 states in implementing coverage expansion and improvements. This study will provide the RWJF Coverage team, its partners in the field and state policy-makers with information about and insights into how ACA is affecting insurance coverage in our target states. The project deliverables will include eight to ten written reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and presentations to academic and policy audiences.
