The Foundation's Public Health Services and Systems Research program (PHSSR) was designed to help establish the field of public health systems research as a needed resource that will enable governmental health agencies to improve their performance. This grant supports continued technical assistance and direction for this program. This effort engages the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) to facilitate the continuation of an annual Call for Proposals for RWJF's PHSSR program. In this capacity, NNPHI will: (1) expand the community of PHSSR researchers by fostering collaborative research partnerships among public health researchers and local, state, national and federal public health practitioners from governmental and non-profit public health organizations; (2) collaborate with the RWJF Public Health Team and its advisors to update and revise the existing PHSSR agenda to reflect RWJF's research priorities; (3) facilitate a grant selection process from which the resulting research contributes to the evidence base on PHSSR; and (4) coordinate technical assistance and provide ongoing support to assist current and future grantees in effectively planning and implementing their projects and overcoming research and dissemination challenges.
