The Foundation's program, Healthy Eating Research: Building Evidence to Prevent Childhood Obesity, was designed to support investigator-initiated research to identify and assess environmental and policy influences with the greatest potential to improve healthy eating and weight patterns among the nation's children.This grant provides continued support for technical assistance and direction for the Healthy Eating Research (HER) program. This program and others have the potential to improve healthy eating and reverse the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015. Under this grant, the National Program Office (NPO) will carry out a range of activities, including managing application and review processes for the 2011 Call for Proposals; targeted commissioned papers, research briefs, syntheses and analyses; ongoing efforts to connect with policy-makers, advocates and other end-users; collaborative partnerships with other RWJF programs and other funders; field-building activities, such as the HER 6th Annual Grantee Meeting, grantee working group coordination and technical assistance; being responsive to evidence requests from government agencies, advocacy groups and policy makers; and program evaluation activities.
