This grant supports two complementary surveys--one of the general public and one of practicing physicians--to reassess their views on Massachusetts' health reform efforts to date. Nearly five years after the state's lawmakers instituted the reforms to provide near-universal coverage, the Massachusetts experience continues to be important for national discussions on the design and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The survey will also examine how each group perceives the options being considered for the next phase of the state's health reforms. The survey design and questionnaire will be assembled collaboratively by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation and researchers at the Harvard Opinion Research Program. The grantee will produce two reports, containing findings from the surveys. Each will be released in partnership with the project's funders. In addition, they will release the findings at a public event in Boston in June. A final deliverable will be a public-use dataset for inclusion in the Foundation's Health and Medical Care Archive.
