Supporting consolidation and upgrading of neurological care at Somerset Medical Center in the new Edward and Anita Hogan Neuroscience Pavilion

Although the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation became a national philanthropy in 1972 and has operated on a national scale since then, it also has continued funding a limited number of local institutions and projects in the New Brunswick area and throughout New Jersey. It does so in part to honor the legacy of its founder, and in part to recognize the special responsibilities to the communities and the state in which it is located.This grant will help Somerset Medical Center, a 355-bed nonprofit teaching hospital and certified primary stroke center in Somerville, New Jersey, acquire and install the equipment and technology to develop the Edward and Anita Hogan Neuroscience Pavilion (Hogan Pavilion). The new 11,000-square-foot Hogan Pavilion, scheduled to open in April 2012, will incorporate the latest advances in emergency medicine, neurology and rehabilitation to provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to thousands of individuals who live and work in Central New Jersey. This project has already secured major support from a variety of private sources.
