Diversifying membership on New Jersey boards of directors in philanthropic and nonprofit sectors
This grant supports the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers and the American Conference on Diversity in building a network of diverse professionals and business and community leaders who can serve, or recommend service, on boards of directors of New Jersey's nonprofit organizations, thereby strengthening their diversity of experience. The project will develop the Board Bank, which will: (1) identify nonprofit organizations, including public and private foundations, that will benefit from a more diverse pool of potential board members; (2) provide potential matches of organizations with individuals who wish to expand their community and philanthropic involvement; and (3) help organizations facilitate the matching process. In addition to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ) and the Fund for New Jersey will fund the Board Bank. The deliverable will be a written report for the Foundation, CFNJ and other funders of this project that details the results of the Board Bank.
