This grant supports the use of an online Public Health Foundation training tool, called the TrainingFinder Real-time Affiliate Integrated Network (TRAIN), to advance the field of public health systems and services research (PHSSR). Specifically, this project will improve the TRAIN database to ensure data quality and integrity; assist in refining the agenda of the workforce in public health research; and conduct research to understand the retention and recruitment needs of the public health workforce. The anticipated success of this research will be the completion and delivery of the TRAIN Data Dictionary; integration of core competencies for public health practice into the TRAIN database; documentation and a Webinar on "How to Access and Use the TRAIN Database"; three tailored datasets; findings from the external assessment of TRAIN; recommendations for improving the quality of data on TRAIN; recommendations for refinements to the agenda of the workforce in public health research; and a final report on how the program supports PHSSR.
