This grant supports the Youth Transition Funders Group (YTFG) in providing special emphasis to facilitating a crosscutting learning collaborative among education, juvenile-justice and child-welfare grantmakers. YTFG, established by the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region in 2001, has a national network of 175 local, regional and national grantmakers that support funders in their efforts to improve transition of our most vulnerable youths to adult life. YTFG will work to improve the following outcomes for youths by age 25: (1) acquisition of job skills and gainful and fulfilling employment; (2) educational achievement in preparation for college, career and lifelong success; (3) connections to a positive support system; (4) the ability to be a responsible and nurturing parent; and (5) the capacity to participate in the civil life of one's community. Specific funding from this grant will go to the Juvenile Justice Work Group within YTFG to promote awareness of innovation and new ideas in systems that support the needs of justice-involved youth. Deliverables will include: meetings of the YTFG Action Group, policy briefs, quarterly newsletters and Webinars, all of which will underscore the importance of multisystem approaches to grantmaking.
