Establishing an independent, nonpartisan organization to build measurable support for reversing the childhood obesity epidemic
This grant supports the continuing development of a new foundation, the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), which fills a unique niche within the constellation of childhood obesity initiatives. Its value proposition stems from its ability not only to identify and accelerate scalable solutions, but also to work across the public, private and nonprofit sectors to catalyze new norms and mobilize a movement affecting all levels of society. Deliverables for this grant will include: implementing a governance model to operationalize the organization; launching its Web site and continuing implementation of an outreach strategy; recruiting and accepting new members, with formal memorandums of understanding setting forth their commitments; hosting and partnering in events to increase awareness of PHA goals and to further align efforts; convening stakeholders and hosting an annual meeting; and launching an annual data report to hold members accountable for their commitments and to provide the public with information of progress toward achieving national targets.
