This project will contribute to an evaluation of the diverse web of activities under way within the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/Institute of Medicine (RWJF/IOM) Initiative on the Future of Nursing (IFN). As part of a multilevel social network analysis, researchers at Sage Colleges will: (1) conduct interviews of members of the IFN Strategic Advisory Committee and other stakeholders to explore their various social connections and collaborations; (2) conduct a secondary data analysis to examine organizational connects of committee members and other stakeholders to provide for an organizational level of network analysis; and (3) compare these network structures and patterns with a list of key stakeholders within the wider policy network related to this initiative. The product of this project will be a report that will outline a descriptive social network analysis of the networks of committee members and other stakeholders, including identification of key measures reflective of the strength of relationships across organizations. This report will shed light on the social networks that currently exist, as well as ones that do not but should, to enhance implementation of the RWJF/IOM recommendations. This analysis will also inform future initiatives and serve as a model for effective accounting and analysis. A deliverable will be a public-use dataset for the Foundation's Health and Medical Care Archive.
