Probing the relationship between health care quality and costs to improve the value of care
This project will systematically review the literature to synthesize knowledge about the relationship between the quality and cost -- or the "value" -- of health care. Policy makers are searching for interventions to improve the value of care. The relationship between quality and cost has important implications for the design of these policy interventions, but is poorly understood. Deliverables will include a report describing the RAND Corporation's methodology, results and conclusions; and a short research brief summarizing the conclusions of the review.
