Evaluation Roundtable to improve the practice of evaluation at foundations, 2010-2012

This grant provides support for the Evaluation Roundtable, a meeting of U.S. foundations with annual payouts of $50 million or more, to share information about current practices in foundation evaluation. Deliverables will include a meeting of the roundtable in early 2012, a report on the foundation CEO's role in organizational learning and evaluation, a roundtable Web site, and development of up to three short case studies on how evaluation assists strategic philanthropy. At RWJF's request, one deliverable (either a group discussion or a short case study) will be an exploration of how grantees view strategic philanthropy and how foundations can better understand and incorporate external partners' views and experience.
