The Foundation's National Program for Public Health Research was designed to further the growth and impact of the field of public health services and systems research (PHSSR) by coordinating current PHSSR investments, supporting real-world applications of research, strengthening the capacity of researchers and practitioners, catalyzing the translation and application of findings into practice, increasing visibility and champions for the work, and attracting other funders to the field. This grant supports the University of Kentucky's College of Public Health and its existing Center for Public Health Services and Systems Research (PHSSR) in leading efforts to further enhance the development and sustainability of efforts to assure that the organization, administration and financing of public health is evidence based and uses knowledge generated by research to accomplish this task. Key program components include developing and administering up to four calls for proposals; building the evidence of what works driven by the public health practice community; increasing researcher capacity in conducting PHSSR; catalyzing the application of research; and expanding funding for PHSSR.
