This grant to the Urban Institute (UI) will support research and analysis to develop at least two quick-strike issue briefs tied to the public health and prevention provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) to assist policy makers with implementation. Although PPACA provides unprecedented support for public health and prevention, many questions remain about its full implications for public health; namely, whether and how policy makers will implement the public health and prevention provisions to have the greatest impact on health. This project, a pilot for potential future issue briefs, is similar to UI's previous quick-strike work with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Coverage and Quality/Equality teams. UI will work with the Foundation and key partners to identify the topics for the issue briefs and to disseminate the findings to key audiences.
