This grant funds the ongoing development of a model, using the Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS), to simulate state-by-state eligibility for adults and children under health reform. This simulation model will increase researchers' ability to accurately measure the number of uninsured adults and children in each state and provide reliable estimates of the proportion of the uninsured who are eligible for Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and subsidized private coverage. The primary deliverable will be the simulation model, but the grantee will also likely produce policy briefs, reports and journal articles on the uninsured and the eligible population for policy makers and key stakeholders.
