The Foundation's program, State Health Access Reform Evaluation (SHARE), was designed to support research and evaluation of state health reform initiatives and develop an evidence base for future state and federal reform initiatives. This project is part of a larger initiative to measure the impact of several policy interventions to increase access to and use of statins by diabetic enrollees in Oklahoma's Medicaid program. The study's design and administration, as well as its data collection, were supported with other funding. This grant supports the analysis of the data and the dissemination of findings from the study. The project has important implications for policy makers seeking to control costs and improve outcomes for their Medicaid population. The project builds off work done by Katherine Baicker, Ph.D., as an expert consultant under the Medicaid Leadership Institute. The deliverables will include: (1) a detailed report; (2) an article for a peer-reviewed health policy journal; and (3) an issue brief designed for policy makers in Oklahoma and other states.
