The Princeton School Garden Cooperative will work with local farmers and chefs to develop a farm-to-school program at two public elementary schools that will: (1) bring fresh produce from local farms into schools, where local chefs will host monthly cooking/tasting sessions for students and parents; (2) distribute featured recipes to parents; (3) bring farmers to the schools for educational sessions; (4) facilitate class field trips to farms, orchards, commercial kitchens, farmers' markets and grocers; (5) work with food-service contractors to integrate fresh produce recipes into their service offerings; and (6) work with the school district to institutionalize the program into its wellness policy. Deliverables will include the monthly cooking/tasting sessions, other educational events and a documentary video on the project.
