The Foundation's program, Communities Creating Healthy Environments: Improving Access to Healthy Foods and Safe Places to Play in Communities of Color (CCHE), was designed to build state and national momentum to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity through strategic investment in those communities most affected. The third year activities for the CCHE national program office will focus on five primary goals: (1) Forge diverse learning communities of support organizations, grantees, decision makers and other stakeholders to strengthen obesity prevention advocacy infrastructure and replicate best practices that address the needs of those communities most affected. (2) Working with the Foundation and a diverse, representative National Advisory Committee, identify up to 20 active sites in which to support local, community-based grantees. (3) Develop and implement technical assistance and capacity building plans for grantee sites. (4) Launch communications plans to highlight grantees and CCHE framework. (5) Implement an evaluative and documentation framework that supports Initiative goals including the publication of CCHE's first public report. Year three will expand CCHE's national Web portal to provide additional resources to key constituencies including youth advocacy groups, Spanish language speakers, faith-based health advocacy ministries and policy-makers. No RWJF funds will be used for lobbying and CCHE grantees will participate in advocacy vs. lobbying training.
