The Foundation's Young Epidemiology Scholars (YES) Program was designed to attract the best and the brightest high school students to become the public health leaders of the future. This award will continue the YES Program through the 2011 annual competition. To enter the Program, junior and senior high school students submit reports on original epidemiological research on a health problem of interest to them. Their research must study populations rather than individuals, their research outcomes must be human health outcomes, and their conclusions must include potential ways to improve people's health. The competition awards 120 college scholarships per year. In addition to managing the competition, the grantee, the College Entrance Examination Board, and RWJF will seek other funding partners to sustain the program beyond 2011.
