In 2009, the Tribal Public Health Accreditation Advisory Board, convened by NIHB, determined that accreditation was feasible and recommended the strategic plan. Deliverables for this grant will include: (1) providing technical assistance to the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) to adapt national accreditation materials and processes to tribal public health delivery; (2) providing technical assistance and training on accreditation and public health quality improvement to tribes, including the three PHAB tribal beta sites; (3) forging and supporting partnerships between state, local and tribal health departments to coordinate and expand public health services to tribes; and (4) providing tribes with education concerning voluntary public health accreditation.
