This grant supports implementation of the Nursing Quality and Safety Alliance (NQSA), which will enable the nursing profession to influence the national policy dialogue on performance measurement and public reporting of nationally recognized measures of health care quality. The Alliance will be the "go to" organization for nurses who seek to magnify their influence on the policy agenda for health care quality, as well as for policy-makers who seek nursing expertise on performance measurement and public reporting. Deliverables will be: (1) 30 nursing organizations as new NQSA members; (2) adoption by leading nursing organizations of NQSA-developed position statements related to quality; (3) participation by more nurses in the performance measurement and public reporting work of key national quality organizations ; (4) meeting NQSA revenue targets; and (5) public reporting by the federal government of nurse-sensitive measures of quality.
