The Foundation's Scholars in Health Policy Research Program was designed to provide postdoctoral training targeted to the most promising graduates of programs in the three disciplines of economics, political science, and sociology to advance their involvement in health policy research.Boston University Health Policy Institute continues to provide technical assistance and direction to the Scholars in Health Policy Research Program. This award provides support for maintaining national program office (NPO) operations and ensuring successful recruitment of scholars over the coming academic year, 2009-2010, at their three sites-University of Michigan; University of California, Berkeley; and Harvard University. Major activities include: refining and managing the application review process; planning and conducting the annual meeting; monitoring and assisting the sites; providing technical assistance to Scholars; maintaining the Working Paper Series; updating the program directory and Web site; expanding Web-based communications to alumni; organizing networking and media training opportunities for alumni; updating and maintaining the alumni database; conducting analyses of alumni advancement and professional activities, including their influence on health policy thinking; and exploring strategies for enabling alumni to have greater impact on health policy formulation.
