Spreading quality improvement through support for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Open School for Health Professions
In 2008, the Institute for Health Improvement created the Open School for Health Professions to close the gap between what health professions students and faculty need to know about quality improvement and what is currently available through traditional curricula. This project will expand the offerings of the Open School by adding components that respond to demand and create opportunities for local engagement in quality improvement activities. The project will create four new components to be added to the existing Open School offerings: (1) leadership program and curriculum; (2) practicum program; (3) creation and launch of a community network model; and (4) an online matching tool to engage students with improvement projects in local health systems.
