The Foundation's initiative, Medicaid Leadership Institute, was designed to develop a leadership program for Medicaid directors designed to cultivate the skills necessary to resolve health care challenges facing states and the nation. This grant supports a formative evaluation of the Medicaid Leadership Institute (MLI). The evaluation will provide feedback to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Program Office, the Center for Health Care Strategies, on the first two years of the initiative. This information will be used as part of an ongoing effort to improve the program and maximize its impact. Evaluators will collect data through a series of interviews with program participants to assess their experience with MLI and to identify areas that are working well and those that could be improved. A small group of non-applicants will also be interviewed to determine how to broaden and diversify the applicant pool in future years.
