The Foundation's New Jersey Nursing Initiative was designed to address the New Jersey nurse faculty shortage by developing, implementing and evaluating a statewide model for recruitment and retention of nurse faculty.The purpose of this grant is to increase the number of masters prepared New Jersey nurse faculty, increase the capacity of master's-level nursing programs to boost enrollment, and thus, increase the number of nurses in the workforce who are available to care for New Jersey residents. This grant provides support for four years to Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Nursing to develop, implement and evaluate a new curriculum model, support one additional faculty member, manage the scholarship program for fourteen students and provide mentoring and acculturation activities that prepare students for the nurse faculty role.
