The Foundation's program, Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q): The Regional Market Project, was designed to support grants and technical assistance to community coalitions to work toward high-quality, patient-centered and equitable care. This grant will support the Aligning Forces for Quality's Health Information Technology Resource Center (HITRC) in providing critical consultation and assistance to advance key AF4Q program goals. Health information technology (HIT) has the potential to play an important role in AF4Q, and many of AF4Q communities are beginning to use HIT strategies to achieve local objectives in improving health care quality, public reporting and consumer engagement. However, most are doing so with limited guidance. HITRC will address that need by supporting up to17 AF4Q communities, the Foundation's Quality/Equality team and the AF4Q Naitonal Program Office with six projects: (1) technical assistance for HIT minigrants; (2) HIT Web-based strategies; (3) an HIT service bureau; (4) an analysis of emerging technological opportunities; (5) establishing partnerships with local and national organizations; and (6) HIT conference and learning opportunities.
